Stunning Generalfeldmarschall Collar Patch

Two hand signed photographs

 

Generalfeldmarschall rank collar patch with fine golden wire embroidery on red wool. The collar patch for sale together with two photographs of Von Manstein. One photograph of Von Manstein as a General , and the other of him with the rank of Generalfeldmarschall. Both photographs of post-war period, and probably signed by him in the 1960s. One bears a signature in black ink, the other in blue ball-point pen. One photo (Generalfeldmarschall) at 14.5cm x 10cm. The second photograph (General) at 14cm x 9cm.

Condition report: The collar patch in excellent overall condition, with just very light age toning to the golden wire embroidery. Very slight use showing to the red wool. Reverse has typical buckram backing. One small moth bite showing to the reverse. The two photographs in generally good overall condition. Both having been backed to card for display purposes, along with the collar patch.

Attribution: The collar patch and signed photographs purchased together by the consigner in the early 1980s. The seller stating the collar patch had come from Von Manstein, together with the post-war signed photographs.

Notes: The group priced to market value of the seperate pieces since there is no formal provenance.
